Core Types

Northcore custom plastic cores are primarily plastic solid-wall cores. We don't supply multi-wall cores or cores greater than 8" diameter. We also don't supply paper, composite or metal cores. We have capability to cut and machine all cores except paper (contamination issues) for a rigid plastic core.

Sizes

We can supply custom tube cutting 1" to 8" inside diameter plastic core and wall thicknesses up to .500". Our standard core sizes are 1", 1.5" 1.75", 2", 3" and 6" inside diameter with many different wall thicknesses.

Colors

Our standard cores are white or natural but we offer black, red, green, yellow and blue in limited sizes. We can also color match any color, but special colors are only available with lead times of 4-6 weeks.

Our staff can help you select the best core that works in your process or that will solve your core related problem. Our experience in the plastic manufacturing and converting industries helps us understand the unique problems faced by core users.

After listening to your needs, we can recommend a size core and have samples in your hands by the next day. Sometimes a range of sizes are sent for your trials. We also supply rigid plastic cores that are made to your exact specification.

Lead-time

The lead time for samples of standard cores is same day or next day. Lead time for regular core orders is 4-5 days. Lead time for small rush orders is same day or next day. Lead time is 2-6 weeks for special sizes, special colors, or cores requiring certain secondary operations.

Production

Our production processes are designed exclusively for plastic cores. There are no compromises. We don't make products for other markets and switch back to cores the next day. Because of this our core quality and consistency leads the industry and our customers know that every order and box they open will have cores that work for them like the previous orders.

We design production machinery from the ground up or modify commercially available machines so we can offer cores with tighter tolerances that are cleaner and burr free.

Packaging/Shipping

We use specially designed containers of different sizes and strengths to make sure your order reaches its destination without damage and is clean. These containers nest on standard size pallets for the most economical shipping class. We can also line the containers and bag & tie or double bag & tie cores heading for cleanroom processing.

If you don't have a contract or an account with a freight company let us quote your plastic core shipment. We have deep discounts with freight carriers and routinely obtain competitive quotes on LTL, TL and container loads. Paying attention to these details has saved our customers thousands in freight costs.

Precision Cutting

Talk with us and get a quote if you have difficult sizes, tolerances, or materials to cut. Northcore will cut plastic cores, plastic profiles, and filter stock to your exact specifications. We build machines from the ground up and modify commercially available machines to deliver clean cores with tight tolerances at the highest rates available.

Non-Core Applications

Floral rings - Florists use plastic core rings to assemble wrist corsage cuffs, decorative napkin rings, and other floral products.

Filters - Plastic cores can be slit, punched and drilled to act as a filter or can become the foundation for filters and filter cartridges.

Mailing/Shipping - Plastic Cores are used as the mailing/shipping containers for mailing and shipping of roll goods, paper, OEM parts, and high value machine supplies.

Protective Packaging Cores are used as part of other packaging systems to eliminate crushing, bending and breaking of high value goods and chemicals packed in glass.
